Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points, commonly referred to as “knots”, are areas of injured muscles tissue that have become hypersensitive. It is thought that a build up of waste, a decrease of circulation, and a lack of proper oxygenation, causes these trigger points to be painful and persistent. Trigger points often develop in overused muscles due to the lack of recovery time between contractions. Trigger points have the ability to refer pain to predictable locations in the body, and can often times be misdiagnosed.  A combination of massage techniques, constant pressure, and stretching are used to treat these areas.
